How does íto compare to my go-to bar?
Cliff: The 2nd ingredient in Cliff is brown rice syrup... and no, "brown rice" doesn't make this refined sweetener good for you. It has a high glycemic index and spikes blood sugar. It also has 3+ versions of soy (ill-advised for hormones) in the ingredients list, and various syrups to bind and further sweeten the bar.
Rx: If you're like me, Rx always get stuck in your teeth. They have twice a sugar/cal ratio as íto, indicating they're all dates. No wonder! íto has just enough dates to keep the mounds together, and a minimal amount of freeze-dried berries enhance the flavor from there.
Barebell: The first thing that stops me with these is the sugar alcohols. I learned a long time ago that sugar alcohols mess with my digestion, especially if I'm dehydrated. The second thing is the numerous unpronounceable ingredients. And to top it off, the final ingredient is sucralose, an artificial sweetener.
FitCrunch: These also have sugar alcohols, which is an immediate no-go for me. Compared with an ingredients list of 42 items, many of which are chemically derived, íto has merely 10 natural ingredients.
